Sammy Guevara has done it again! "The Spanish God" was crowned undisputed TNT Champion when he defeated Cody Rhodes in a wild Ladder Match on Dynamite.

It all went down at the Wolstein Center in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday, January 26 for AEW's third annual Beach Break-themed edition of its weekly flagship show on TBS. Interim TNT champ Guevara and actual TNT champ Rhodes went one-on-one in a spot-filled opening match that featured some shocking high-risk maneuvers.

The match started off slow, but all hell broke loose the second the ladders were introduced. The first big spot came when Cody hit Guevara with a mind-blowing suplex off the ladder ... but the spots didn't stop there. Guevara hit Cody with a gorgeous cutter from the top off the ladder, and Cody returned the favor by hitting Sammy with a Cross Rhodes off the ladder. Later, Guevara leaped off the top of a ladder on the outside and connected with a swanton, landing with a thud on his opponent who was stretched out over another ladder.

The finish came when Sammy hit Cody in the face with the two belts as both men were climbing the rungs. Cody fell to the matt as Sammy grabbed the straps for the win. After the bell, Sammy celebrated with his friend Fuego Del Sol.

As you might recall, Guevara became interim TNT Champion at Battle of the Belts when he defeated Cody's brother Dustin Rhodes in the opening match of the show. Guevara was initially scheduled to face Cody for the title, but Cody had to pull out after testing positive for COVID-19.

Cody Rhodes captured the TNT title for the third time in his career when he defeated Guevara on the special Holiday Bash edition of AEW Rampage on December 25 (although the show was actually taped a few days prior following that week's edition of Dynamite).

Sammy Guevara became TNT Champion for the first time when he ended the 141-day reign of "God's Favorite Champion" Miro in the main event of the September 29 edition of AEW Dynamite. Guevara's s reign wasn't as long as it probably should have been, but he was a fighting champion throughout, picking up wins over the likes of Jay Lethal and Tony Nese on his journey.
