The New Day's Xavier Woods has revealed Tyler Breeze was on the verge of receiving his marching orders from WWE before he was needed for a storyline with Roman Reigns in FCW.
Woods, who was speaking on his faction's Feel the Power podcast, says he and Breeze were flatmates at the time and started working on several pitches for FCW management when it became clear that Breeze was "on the chopping block." They had formed a tag team called The Hollywood Express but Woods was told at a 2012 show that the team wouldn't be a thing for much longer.

“All of a sudden, I see Breeze walking out and I hear his music. I’m like, ‘Wait, what? We’re a tag team?’ And then I see him walking out with who? Roman Reigns. And then what happens? By the end of that match, there’s a one, two, three, and Breeze and Roman Reigns were the new Tag Team Champions, while Breeze and I were a legitimate tag team.”

Breeze, a guest on the podcast, explained FCW management wanted Reigns to hold one of the Florida Tag Team titles so he got selected as a partner with very little notice. Reigns and Breeze, wrestling as Leakee and Mike Dalton, beat Corey Graves and Jake Carter to win the titles in June of 2012 but their reign was short-lived as they lost them to Jason Jordan and CJ Parker after 28 days.
Reigns would go on to debut on the main roster as part of The Shield while Breeze continued his development at FCW, which had been rebranded to NXT by then.
He's Still Kicking about
Several years later, Breeze is still around, even in the wake of a massive company-wide cut that saw several WWE employees lose their jobs this month.
The 32-year-old has gone on to work several successful gigs for WWE, including his forming of Breezango with Fandango. Breeze returned to NXT in 2019 after a four-year stint on the main roster.
