Admitting that it's hard to compare eras and designate GOAT in the industry of professional wrestling, former WWE star and Hall of Famer JBL says one thing is certain: John Cena is the best representative the industry has ever seen.

Noting that Bruno Sammartino sold out the Garden more than anyone, and acknowledging others might have a different measuring stick for the best workers in the world, no one has done what John Cena has done in terms of promoting WWE and professional wrestling. During a recent episode of “Busted Open,” John Bradshaw Layfield was on to talk about the 20-Year celebration of Cena from Monday's Raw and was asked where Cena ranks. He was also asked if he knew Cena would be as big a star as he became. JBL said he told Vince McMahon "this is your guy", but he didn't know Cena would achieve such unbelievable levels of stardom. He noted, "But to me, he’s the best representative our business has ever seen. I don’t think there’s any doubt about that."

Cena gets known for his 16 title runs, but perhaps the most impressive about what he's done, and continues to do with his celebrity status, specifically granting wishes for terminally ill children. JBL said, "650 Make-A-Wishes. He gave a million dollars of his own money to social inequity to help solve the problems of society. He’s just one of the best, most respectful guys I’ve ever been around. He is the best representative of this business that I’ve ever seen."

Cena Did The Hard Work and Stayed Out Of Trouble

Mark Henry was also on the show and said one of the things that stands out for him was that Cena was never in trouble. There was no controversy surrounding the WWE star. He didn't get caught treating people poorly, didn't abuse drugs or alcohol or pull rank when he could have acted like a big-shot backstage. That's a big deal in today's day and age where it's easy to get caught up in being a star and it can go to your head. It never did for Cena, someone he says cared a great deal for the business.

Henry said he tried granting a wish for a terminally ill child and asked WWE not to send him out anymore. It was too hard knowing those kids were not likely to make it. That goes to show you how dedicated Cena was and still is.
