Wrestling commentator ad AEW personality Jim Ross recently gave an update on his health following a fall he suffered last month. The incident occurred on the same day as All Elite Wrestling's (AEW) Collision premiere episode and it was clear during the show that Ross was a bit off. Despite being injured, he traveled to Chicago to participate in the broadcast, providing commentary for the main event between CM Punk & FTR and Samoa Joe, Jay White & Juice Robinson. However, he struggled with a hoarse voice throughout the match.
After the Collision episode, Ross took to social media and apologized for his vocal condition, and announced that he would take time off to recover. A few weeks later, on his Grilling JR podcast, he filled listeners in on what all went down. Ross revealed that he fell when he tripped over the cord of his CPAP machine while going to the bathroom in the middle of the night. He landed face-first into his end table after losing balance. Ross suspected that he had suffered a concussion from the fall, experiencing symptoms such as headaches, unsteadiness, and blurred vision. Reflecting on his decision to travel and participate in the broadcast, he acknowledged that it was a mistake. Although he believed he was doing the right thing for the company, the fans, and himself, he realized it was the wrong decision for everyone involved.
On his show, he detailed the series of events between the fall, waking up, realizing he had a huge headache, traveling anyways, and learning the hard way throughout the day he sounded terrible. He was doing the best he could but said, "...after that show was over, I went back to the announcers’ locker room, where we all dress, all of us, collectively, a little community place, and I sat there for a little bit and thought, ‘Man, I can’t keep doing this. I don’t feel good. Something’s not right. I got here, I did the best I could. But boy, I need to get home."
