Earlier this week, it was reported that Charlotte Flair will be out of action for several months as she prepares to undergo surgery.

Charlotte was attacked by Nia Jax backstage during this week's episode of Monday Night Raw, which was WWE's way of writing her off of television for the time being. In a statement, WWE stated that she "may have suffered a potential collarbone fracture" in the attack.

There are conflicting reports in regards to when Charlotte could return. The Queen stated that she'll "only be gone for a few weeks." If that's the case, she'll be back in time for the marquee SummerSlam pay-per-view on Aug. 23. And it sounds like WWE has a major program planned for Charlotte there.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Lennard Surrao of Sportskeeda), the hope is that Charlotte will be back for SummerSlam to engage in a three-way feud with Jax and Raw Women's Champion Asuka.

Meltzer pointed out that the timeline for Charlotte's return isn't clear, however. She'll reportedly be kept busy with different projects outside of wrestling.

After losing the NXT Women's Championship to Io Shirai at NXT TakeOver: In Your House, Charlotte was moved back to Raw - where she began a feud with Asuka. The Queen defeated her on the June 8 edition of Raw, but the Empress of Tomorrow bounced back with a victory this week.

What Does This Mean For Jax & Asuka?

With Flair on hiatus for the time being, it looks like Jax and Asuka will be tasked with leading the women's division on Raw. It'll be interesting to see how WWE works around these two while also preparing for Charlotte's return.

SummerSlam is still two months away, and if Charlotte isn't back within the next few weeks, WWE will have to find a way to keep the buildup strong for potential three-way showdown between the three stars. Surely, new Raw head Bruce Prichard will make it work.
